How To Create Restore Points In Windows 8
System Restore is a great feature of Windows which was introduced in Windows XP. And it is now an integral part of Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. System Restore can help the user to restore the computer to a previous working condition without any hard work. System Restore works automatically by default and will monitor the changes in the System drive and create regular restore points which can then be used to restore Windows.
If you are using Windows 8, you can access the System Restore feature by following the steps below:
- Go to Windows Search (Settings) [Windows Key + W]
- Search for “restore point”.
- Select “Create a Restore point” from the search results.
A new window will open where you can select a drive and then press the Configure button in order to enable or disable System Restore on that particular drive. You can also change how much space is allocated for saving the restore points.
If you want to create a new restore point, simply press the Create button (Alt + C).
You will be asked to enter a description of the restore point you are creating. This description will be helpful in identifying the restore point when you want to use System Restore again.
If you want to restore your system to a previous date, simply press the System Restore button (Alt + S). Another window will open where you see a list of restore points available at your disposal.
If you are not comfortable with the default Windows System Restore, you can also use free utilities like Restore Point Creator.
Restore Point Creator is a portable app which can manage existing restore points and also create new restore points in Windows 8. Restore Point Creator comes with quite a simple and easy to understand interface. On the top of the window, you will find a description field and the create button. You can create a new restore point from there.
Below, you will find the list of restore points available at your disposal. You can select any restore point and delete it by clicking on “Delete Selected Restore Point” and restore to the previous date by clicking on “Restore System to Selected System Restore Point”. This is quite simple yet the interface is intuitive and simple. Note: There is a file embedded within this post, please visit this post to download the file.
